As a nonprofit organization committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of ex-racing greyhounds, Greyhounds Only is constantly seeking ways to find homes for more dogs - and to stay financially solvent in the process. Boarding costs and medical bills, for instance, for the fifteen to twenty dogs we usually house at the kennels until their adoption have a way of adding up.
It is with the assistance of people like you we are able to continue this work. And with several ways to help, one will surely be right for you.
Give Us Some of Your Time
Donations of time help raise awareness of these majestic hounds, which in the end means more of them will be placed in loving homes. Please see the volunteer page for to find the volunteer venue that most suits you.
Make a Monetary Contribution
Monetary donations go toward housing dogs until they can be placed in a permanent home and getting them the medical care they need. While the adoption fee does cover a portion of this, it generally doesn't cover all of a dog's expenses. Do you remember your visit to the kennels to pick out your hound? Did you know that Greyhounds Only pays $5.00 a day per dog boarded there while it awaits its new home? So if that hound is with is for just one month, that's $150. It's easy to see how quickly costs can add up.
Part of our mission is to deliver medical care to as many greyhounds as possible in need of medical assistance so that they will not be put to sleep and can be placed in permanent homes. Did you know that Greyhounds Only pays for medical costs for all dogs that go to the kennel prior to their permanent placements? Most of the dogs only require routine care; however, we also receive dogs with racing injuries, for which we absorb the cost. Consider a gift to assist funding GO's medical program at one of the following levels:
$1,000 = repair of compound
or multiple fracture
$200-$400 = repair of a simple fracture
$139 = spay/neuter/dental of one dog
$35 = shots and heartworm treatments

Please note, by mailing a check you ensure Greyhounds Only receives the full value of your donation. PayPal does charge a 3% fee for its use.
Sponsor an Adoptable Hound
The Greyhounds Only adoption fee of $225 only partially covers the medical expenses for the average dog, and our special needs hounds are far more costly. The difference in funds must be raised through fundraising events, grants, and corporate matching gifts and through the kindness of sponsors like yourself. You can help the organization by contributing towards the expenses for a kennel dog from the time he or she comes into our program to the time the dog leaves for its loving home.
A contribution of $100.00 is classified as an "Alpha Sponsor”. A contribution of $50 is considered a Beta Sponsor and a contribution of $25 is considered an Omega Sponsor. Any amount is welcome and immensely appreciated. Want to donate more? Why not sponsor multiple hounds!

As of September, 2008, for each dog that goes through the Greyhounds Only adoption program, Greyhounds Only pays an average cost of $761. Every contribution you make whether $5 or $500 helps a greyhound on his or her journey from the racetrack or farm to a forever home.
We don't know how long your sponsored hound will be with us - so whether he or she is adopted in a week or in six months, please know that the money you donate towards sponsoring an adoptable greyhound goes directly to our available hounds.

A family that has grocery purchases averaging $400 per month could be generating contributions from Dominick’s of $60 annually. $60 covers the boarding expense of a single dog for about two weeks.
